Friday 1/28/11

Regular school day today- not even a delayed opening! And it was like a sheet of ice outside! But I was glad to drop the kids off as I had alot of errands to run! First I walked, then I ran to Target, TRU and Walmart and Poof! it was time to pick up Thomas! He had another basketball game tonight against another Deptford team and we got killed again. We just can't score any baskets!!! I feel bad for Ron because he never wanted to coach basketball but the woman who is our coach is clueless about the game so Ron stepped up to help out and 1 of the parents had some words with him tonight :( Ron was upset the rest of the night, not about the loss but about the stupid fight. Well, when we got home we decided to watch The Incredibles together and it was 11:00 by the time it got over and we all went right to bed. It was a long week and I was exhausted!

Thursday 1/27/11

Another SNOW DAY!!! The phone rang at 5:00 and then I couldn't go back to sleep! Ugh! I guess I eventually did and then around 7:00 the kiddies crawled into bed with me. Thomas was the first one to ask about school being canceled and I lied and told him it was a 1 hour delay. I'm mean like that. But he was happy once I old him the truth. We got about 15 inches overnight and it was so bad Ron couldn't even get out of the driveway! So he did some work from home while we waited for the twp to plow our court. Even after they came through he got stuck again and Doug's son came over and had to give him a push. But then he got to work ok which is all that matters. He told me not to go anywhere and so we didn't even leave the house all day. I kept asking the kids if they wanted to go outside but they were busy playing and didn't feel like going out. After lunch I had turned off the tv and said "no more blobbing!! you guys have to DO something!!" and so they invented an adorable game of pet store with their webkinz. While they were playing I was busy cleaning Thomas' room and going thru his clothes and packing him for Disney! So even though I didn't go anywhere today I still managed to get a lot done!

Weds 1/26/11

Well we woke up to surprise snow this morning! Not much of the white stuff but enough to make things very slushy. Done said it was like driving thru mashed potatoes LOL surprisingly they did nit delay school and after I got rid of the kids I went for a walk at the mall. Then I spent way too much tine shopping the huge clearance sale at JCP!! but I got some great deals including leg warmers for Annie which she loved!! I needed some groceries but I learned my lesson last week that it's not a good idea to go to a grocery store the day before a snowstorm so I went shopping at target instead, again spent way too much tome there!!I had to rush home in order to get sone TGI work done before it was time to get the boy. In the meantime I found out that basketball and gymnastics were canceled so we had a quiet night ahead. After dinner we just goofed off- Ron and Thomas played Metroid (and they cheated every time they got stuck) while Annie gave me a little makeover. We ended this wonderful night with our normal nightly bedtime routine- singing Old MacDonald HAd a Farm. The kids think it's hilarious o try and trip me up by naming an unusual animal or person to see what I will do. For example- old MacDonald had a ~~~~ mouse EIEIO. With a ? ? Here and a ?? There..... What do you say for mouse? I dunno so I make something up and they giggle :o)

Tuesday 1/25/11

Normal Tuesday morning today- art cleaning TGI. I walked to pick up Thomas today since it was finally above freezing for the first time in 3 weeks!! When Annie got off the bus today she begged me if she could have a play date with Marin and she wanted to call her herself. So I dialed the phone and then Annie made her first ever phone call!! First of many I'm sure!! They didn't talk long though. It was just "do you want to come over? Yeah ok bye." It was cute!
After dinner Thomas was cute because he saw there were 3 bananas left and he knows I need 3 to make banana muffins and Ron usually eats a banana after dinner so Thomas yelled at him not to eat a banana. So while Ron took Thomas to basketball practice I made him chocolate chip banana muffins. When Thomas came home he smelled it right away and was very happy- I think he did a fist pump !! His exuberance totally makes it worthwhile!!

Mon 1/24/11

I hate Mondays but today was a good day. Walk this morning at the mall then shopping then work and laundry. Same old, same old. after school we had to eat dinner right away because we had to run over to drop my car off so that the tires could get rotated in advance of our upcoming Disney trip. But instead of Ron taking Thomas to the sand lot as planned the boys decided to pay hookey and that's what made it a good day :) we went to the mall and had a great night together. I wanted to get myself and Annie new sneakers for Disney which we did and then we went to the food court and the kids got ice cream cones. We laughed about the time Thomas almost did an "elf" on the escalator. Annie was so cute at the shoe store~~ she picked out a pair of sparkly rainbow shoes and then saw a different style and said "I can't decide- it's too hard. I HAVE to have them both!!!" LOL meanwhile her brother wanted to kill her for taking time to decide because he HATES to shop!! He said " just pick one so we can go!!". In the end she bought the rainbow sparkly ones which are her first pair of shoelace shoes!! But she already learned how to tie just by watching her friends at school! Amazing!!

Sun 1/23/11

My dad turned. ?? Today.
UGH I ha. Terrible night of sleep! I ate too much cake at the party and got up around 4:00 not feeling well so I went downstairs to sleep in the chair instead oflayinf down. Thankfully when I got up at 10 I was feeling much better. Pop pop came over and had breakfast us then played monopoly jr with the kids before doing his Sunday cemetery run. Then Ron and Thomas played metroid while I cleaned up from last nights party. I look around online for a while for vanities again and then we went to hone depot o on could see what they offer fir himself we were there so long Thomas thougbhisvedwas gonna explode!! Lol even though we can't get exactly what we want without special ordering it, we think we found something we n agree to settle on. Then we ad to go o JCP because I had a coupon that was gonna expire and I wanted to get Annie new shoes but they weren't having a good sale on shoes so we made Thomas try on sone pants and jeans nd by now e was really frustrated with all he shopping and wanted to o hone. So on our way home we stopped at Wendy's and the kids got frostys for being somewhat good while w shopped. Thevrest of the night was in front of the tv for foot all playlets while I researched more vanity info and Annie wanted to draw. Before bed Ron and I helpedvte kids clean their rooms!!! They needed it-bad!

Sat 1/22/11

Emma woke up all smiles this mornn which was a relief! We ate breakfast and then Ron had to take Annie to gymnastics for a make up class. When he got back we headed o Lowes to check out bathroom vanities. I really want to redo our downstairs bathroom since I'm working now and we have some extra money but I can't find exactly what I want and I've been looking and looking and looking!! Of course we didn't find anything and then we headed home to clean up the house sine we were having people over later for ame night. The mcgraths and the lloyds came over for dinner and some fun. we played Disney scene it all together and then the kids played while the adults enjoyed sone adult fun. Patti brought a real bottle of wine- Pinot gregio which we both thought was disgusting but Ron drank alot of it and liked it. Don sucked down a million bud light limes on his own. It was a great night but then right at the end everyone started melting down so next time I think we should try to end te night a little earlier. And OMG Annie's room was such a disaster that you couldn't even see the carpet!! Mess = fun :) the way i look at it, the more mess the more fun was had!

Fri 1/21/11

Walked at the make again today but this time after we were done we went clearance shopping at JCP!!! I got some great deals :) then I met for lunch with Doreen Heather Patti Jenn Michele and Catraona at Saladworks. It was my first time here but OMG they had delicious soup!!!
Tonight Thomas had a basketball game and it was tied up until the last quarter!!! But we ended up losing by about 6 points and Thomas again was heartbroken!!! But Annie was excited because Catraona unexpectedly asked if she could drop Emma over for a sleepover so when we got home he girls had fun playing until 10 and then I let them watch HSM 3 while laying down in bed. Ron and I were watching tv downstairs when around midnight Emma dame downstairs crying!!! Turns out she missed her mommy and it was her first time sleeping somewhere without Evan so I tried to calm her down but t didn't work- she wouldn't stop crying no matter what I did! Eventually she asked to slee alone so she stayed in Annie's bed while Ron Annie and myself slept in our ed. It wasa horrible nights sleep because of Annie and her wiggle butt!! But I went back to check on Emma after 5 minutes and she was sound asleep!

Thurs 1/??/11

Started my morning with a walk at the mall then had to work for the hubby for a bit. Then lunch then ShopRite and OMG was it crowded because they are calling for snow overnight and everyone wants to stock up. The lines were so long I was almost late o the busstop (yet again). After dinner Ron took Annie to basketball clinic while Thomas stayed home and played knee hockey by himself. That is the best present he got for Christmas! I knew as soon as I saw them that he Would love them so I called Sandi and told her to buy them for him.

Weds 1/19/11

Plain old regular day today. Drop Thomas to school @8:20, take Annie o the busstop @ 8:45 then start my day with some breakfast and Facebook. No one was available o walk a the mall today so I did th treadmill instead but it's sooooo boring! After a quickie dinner Ron took Thomas to baseball practice while I took Annie to gymnastics. Annie loves gymnastics and practices handstands roundoffs and cartwheels all the time at home. She enjoys it so much more than dance class.

Tuesday 1/18/11

It snowed and sleeted overnight and the kids had a 2 hour delayed opening for school. It was great because we had plenty of time to get ready and there was no rushing around or screaming like a normal school day! I even jumped on the treadmill for a quick walk!! I dropped Annie to busstop at 10:45 and it was time to pick Thomas up at 3:00 so I only had a few hours to myself today but I managed to get alot done. After dinner Ron took Thomas to basketball practice.

Mon 1/17/11

The kids had off from school today for MLK day so we went to Chuck E Cheese to meet up with the playgroup and celebrate Kenny and Isabella's birthday. We got there early and the kids played a million games before it got too crowded at lunchtime. By the time we left at 1:00 the line was really long to get in!!! Being there reminded me of the first time I took Thomas there which was with the playgroup and when we turned his tickets in so he could get a prize he freaked out because he wanted to keep the tickets!! He used to play with them all the time!! This time however he traded in his tickets for a paint your own dragon and when we got home he couldn't wait to paint it. We had some wood projects that had never gotten put together so we all sat at the table constructing and painting a birdhouse and a fighter jet. But the nice afternoon had to come to a end for an early dinner so Thomas could go to baseball practice at the Sand Lot.

Sun 1/16/11

Emily woke up all smiles today! She went to bed like Dr Jekyll and woke up like mr Hyde. We had a nice pancake breakfast and then Melissa came to pick up the girls. I loved having them for a day but I was exhausted afterward!! You forget how much energy it takes when there are little ones around! It makes you appreciate how easy life is once your kids aren't in diapers anymore and you don't have to watch them every second of every minute. Of course I'll always look back fondly on their toddler years but life is just easier now in alot of ways.
So this afternoon we went to Wendy B's house to celebrate Nicholas turning 10!!! It's hard to believe that one of the members of our playgroup is now in double digits! Time flies!!
Ron and Thomas played some Wii Metroid today and it was the first time that Thomas was the better player and actually helped Ron out! Uh-oh the tide is turning!!
At bedtime tonight Annie couldn't find her boo-boo blankie and she was getting very upset, frantic even! when we finally found it she was so happy she started crying and the first thing she did was rub it on her cheek!! So cute!!!

Saturday 1/15/11

We had to get up early today because Johnny and Melissa were dropping off Rebecca and Emily at 9:00 so they could repaint and reorganize their living/diningroom. The kids had so much fun playing together!! They played all day and then after dinner we took them to the Discovery Museum where we met up with the Chus. Thomas and Evan played hockey the whole time while the girls went from section to section checking out all the different areas at least once. They especially had fun doing a show for us in the theater. Everyone was having fun but we had to go home for snacks and batthime and unfortunately Emily fell asleep in the car on the way home and was a bear when we had to wake her up. She threw a tantrum about eating snack, another tantrum about getting a bath and a third tantrum about brushing her teeth!! It made me realize how nice it is to have older kids~~~ I do not miss the terrible twos!! Emily slept in Annie's room in the pack n play while Thomas, Annie and Rebecca slept on Thomas' floor in sleeping bags.

Friday 1/14/11

It was a nice day today. Everyone canceled on walking with me so I got some things done around the house instead. Then I worked for Ron and then went grocery shopping to lay in supplies for the weekend. After school Thomas went to Gabe's house to play hockey with him and Zach. Then we ate a quick dinner and headed to Thomas' basketball game. Well- we didn't win but it was a close game up until the last quarter. Thomas was really bummed that their record is 0 wins and 5 losses. But he cheered up when we got home and watched Despicable Me together. It was a cute movie- not great but cute. Ron was so tired he fell asleep on the couch but at least he was well behaved at the game tonight :)

Thurs Jan 13th

So today was sucky. Started off good with a nice walk at the mall. Then I had to go to the dentist to get a cavity filled. It was a small cavity and no big deal but still, I hate the dentist!!!! I worked all afternoon and then after school Zach and Delaney came over to play. After dinner Annie had her first basketball practice!! She did great and more importantly she loved it!! Unfortunately though there are no girls on her team that she knows! But the worst part of the day was Thomas' basketball game which I couldn't go to because I was with Annie....apparently the other team was older and much better than our team and they creamed us 30-1. Apparently Ron got very upset about how the other team was acting considering how much they were beating us by and he flipped out - he even yelled at Thomas and then left the court to cool down. When he got home he was still very worked up and couldn't snap out of it. He even woke up at 4:30 am and couldn't go back to sleep because of it! We have another game tomorrow- I hope we win!!!!!!

Weds 1/12/11

Snow day!!! They were calling for a big snowstorm overnight so school was cancelled before I even went to bed. I guess we got about 8 inches. The kids still got up early though and they were very excited to discover they had the day off! They played inside very nicely and seemed to have NO interest in going outside so after lunch I offered them each $5 to shovel the parts of the sidewalk that Ron didn't do yet. Once they got outside they were having so much fun that they stayed out there for over 2 hours and I had to lure them back in with hot chocolate. When they came in Thomas complained that his right earlobe hurt and when I looked at it it was red and very swollen and I thought he might of gotten frostbite! So I looked it up on webmd and before you get frostbite, you can get a less serious condition called frostnip and I think he might of had that!! His earlobe was crazy swollen and kinda hard but it got better once he warmed up and by the morning it was back to normal.
After dinner I had to take Annie to gymnastics but the roads were perfectly fine! Ron took Thomas to baseball training and then went to the first Deptford baseball meeting of the year.

Tuesday 1/11/11

I had so much hope for today as it was 1/11/11. Very exciting. It started off good enough- art with Mrs Wolf then a little work and then a nice trip to target to lay in supplies before the expected snowstorm. We had no plans for tonight and I wanted to play my new Disney Scene It game together to help get us in the mood for our upcoming Disney trip. Well, after dinner Ron started a fire and we started playing and that's when all hell broke loose! Annie didn't get her first question right and she started crying about that. Then it was an "all play" and she said the answer right after Thomas so then she started crying about how she " never" wins which is so not true and she got really whiny. Then the last straw was something stupid- Ron moved her piece by accident instead of moving mine and she freaked then I snapped and BOOM that was the end of a chance for a happy night at home. I sent both kids to their rooms which was probably unfair to Thomas because he didn't really do anything wrong just then. ( but he had been whining earlier and acting like a baby) about 1/2 hr later Thomas came down and apologized for his baby-talking but Annie didn't come down which was strange. Ron had gone up to her room and talked to her about her behavior and I guess after he left she cried herself to sleep. She slept from about 7:00 until 8:00 the next morning. Of course she was very lovey- dovey when she got up and apologized. I never want to play Disney Scene It again! UGH!!! What a bad night!!!

Monday Jan 10th

It was a quiet day today. Not much to report. I walked at the mall then worked for TGI. After school Zach came over and the boys played foosball and Wii. After dinner Ron took Thomas to baseball training and Annie and I stayed home to read and play Pictureka on the iPad.
The only interesting thing that happened to me today was that I have been wanting to get Disney Scene It and a friend happened to tell me it was on clearance at Kohls for a great price but it was a few days later and I headed to Kohls with my fingers crossed hoping they still had it. Well when I got to the store I went to the aisle where she told me it was and just as I turned into the aisle another woman picked up the last one!!! So I stalked her for a little while hoping she would change her mind and put it back but she didn't so I left the store empty handed and sad :( I didn't have time to run to another Kohls because I had to get the kids from school but I asked Ron to stop after he dropped Thomas off at baseball and I lucked out that they had it! Yay! it was a great deal- originally $30 on clearance for $12!! I can't wait to play it!!!

Sunday Jan 9th

We all slept in late this morning even Ron because he was up until the wee hours of the morning playing Zelda on DS. He got it for Christmas and he can't put it down!!! But we had a lot to do today so we got busy right away. We got the livingroom back in order now that we put all the Christmas decorations away and we went for our weekly BJs run. The kids are so used to going there that they know exactly what to do! Thomas grabbed the yogurts while Ron and I were busy getting other supplies and then he helps load the cart while Ron checks us out. Annie always wants to scan in the coupons and then give the receipt to the girl at the door.
Then I helped Thomas clean up his room while Annie got a bath with her new Barbie mermaid she got for Christmas. Then the big event for the day was Grandpop Torney, Uncle Rob, Nick and Andrew came over to watch the Eagles playoff game. Of course the Eagles lost but I think it was nice to have all the Torney boys together to watch the game.
I spent my time during the game making Disney plans for our upcoming trip!!

Sat Jan 8th

I love to do stuff but sometimes it's great to just stay home, relax and get caught up on some stuff! I got to sleep in today ( of course Ron was up early because he NEVER sleeps!!) and I got all of the indoor Christmas decorations put away. Thomas had another basketball game today- they lost their 3rd game in a row by a blowout this time :( While Ron took Thomas to the game I stayed home and had a wonderful girlie afternoon with Annie. She did my hair, make-up and gave me a mani-pedi :)
Even though it snowed again today the kids didn't even ask to go outside and play in it! I thought that was crazy!!! I hate the cold but they usually beg to play in the snow!!
After dinner Ron had to work the basketball snack stand so I let the kids stay up until Daddy got home and then he played a little foosball with them before they went to sleep. Then Ron and I watched The Expendables which I HATED. I'm not gonna let Ron choose what we watch next time!!!

Friday Jan 7th

We woke up to some snow this morning, not enough to cancel school but enough that I decided not to walk at the mall today ( I didn't feel like walking 3 miles in boots). As soon as I got home from dropping Annie at the busstop I saw there was a message on the answering machine and was surprised that it was a call from Thomas!! He had forgotten his MLK poster and it was due today so he wanted me to drop it off. I trudged through the snow and dropped it off to the office but she never told Thomas that I was there so the poor kid did a second poster at lunchtime!
I spent the day cleaning, working for Ron and then I went grocery shopping and by the time I got back it was just about time to get the boy. He had his second basketball game tonight and they lost again :( Thomas was pretty bummed so when we got home I made the kids special ice cream sundaes ( Thomas has vanilla ice cream with chopped reese's cups and Annie had vanilla ice cream with crushed oreos on top) and we watched 2 new episodes of Billy The Exterminator which cheered everybody up! We love Billy!!!
After the kids went to bed Ron and I watched Dinner With Schmucks which was pretty funny. I love Paul Rudd!!!

Thursday Jan 6th

I had a great start to my day today! First was a nice walk at the mall and then I headed over to Dunkin Donuts for coffee with the girls. I had my first Sobe water - fuji apple pear and it was delicious!!
Thomas had his first ever basketball game tonight which was cute. He made a basket in the 4th quarter but we lost the game 18-23 :( Of course Thomas got hurt on his knee during the game. He ALWAYS gets hurt during sports. When I see a kid down, I always know it's my boy!! LOL

Wednesday Jan 5th

I had a dentist appt today. I'm iffy about this new dentist. They took a million X-rays which seems like overkill and most of their patients seem to be Medicaid. But he did good work on my broken tooth last week so I'm gonna see what happens- I have to go back next week for a small cavity to get filled :(
Other than that it was an uneventful day for me. I did some work for Ron and ran to the grocery store. But it was a busy night because Thomas decided on his own to go to "The SandBox" and Annie has gymnastics so we had a quickie dinner and went our separate ways. Annie and I watched our fav show The Middle when we got home but the boys didn't get home until late. When Thomas was going to bed he told me that he liked going to baseball training and he's glad he went. But he hates that he's a slow runner and always comes in last :(

Tuesday Jan 4th

It was a typical Tuesday here at the Torney house. I sent the kids off to school and then I went to Central to help the art teacher, Mrs Wolf. After school it was a fight to get Thomas to do his homework because as he always says (in a very whiny voice) "I can't dooooooooo it". Then Annie gets off the bus and starts crying because someone didn't hear her and she thinks that was "mean". Yup, just a typical afternoon as Casa De Torney. After dinner Annie's little friend Delaney came over and they played dolls.
My only excitement of the day was tonight Ron started helping me get all the pictures/memorabilia organized so we can finally get everything into scrapbooks! I'm just too overwhelmed by all the stuff I have accumulated over the years. I don't know where to begin!! It felt really good to get started on that project even so we didn't get too much done. Baby steps!!!

Monday Jan 3rd

The kids were so hard to wake up this morning because of all the late nights during holiday break!  I sent them both off to school very sleepy! And all I wanted to do was to crawl back in bed but I  had to get back to my walking routine which felt great (but hurt!!)
I had a Good Intent PTA mtg today which made me late getting Annie at the busstop AGAIN (thank goodness for Don!!!)
Ron and Thomas fought about whether Thomas had to go to "The Sand Box" for training. Thomas knows he should go but he hates the first part when they make them run and do conditioning. It's been a constant battle recently. Thomas doesn't want to quit The Mustangs but he also doesn't want to do the indoor training with Coach Bruce because he's "tough". 
Then the rest the night was spent doing Monday night homework and playing diner "McRonalds" they call it LOL  Ron made a nice fire and I fell asleep accidentally for a few.
The kids had no trouble going right to bed tonight!  I hope we have an easier morning tmrw!

Sunday Jan 2nd

We slept in late again today!  It's the last day of Christmas break. We went to Aunt Nancy's house to celebrate Christmas with the Keith side. It had been postponed from the previous Sunday because of a snow storm (approx 12 inches).   Gpop Keith tried to fool the kids into thinking he just bought them candy canes but he taped $40 in an envelope to the back of the boxes. Annie went right to sleep at bedtime but Thomas just could NOT fall asleep no matter what we tried because he was so used to staying up late!

Saturday Jan 1st

We all slept in late after staying up NYE until 1:00. It was the first time Thomas stayed up to watch the ball drop and Annie was sound asleep because she didn't feel well (cough, congestion). You could tell Thomas was over-tired this morning because he dropped his cereal bowl on the floor and it broke and he cried for half an hour and we didn't even yell at him!! It was just an accident!!! Later we had Allie, Gmom Kitty, Gpop Steve, BJ, Johnny, Melissa, Emily and Rebecca over for dinner and game night. We played Scattergories, Toss Up, and Disney Trivial Pursuit. It was another late night!

Wendy's New Year Resolution of 2011

I've always wanted to start a blog just to keep track of things we do with the kids while they're young but I'm usually too busy living life to sit and blog about it but my New Years Resolution is to MAKE TIME to write down all the great stuff that we do because the time flies by so fast and the kids grow up so fast and I wish I could just freeze the clock right now!!  I'm very excited about 2011 and all the possibilities that life has in store for us!!
